Baby Felix made his debut 7 weeks ago after a long, difficult pregnancy. Just like with my first son (but, actually, worse this time), I spent 9 months struggling to keep down food and water due to hyperemesis gravidarum. Instead of sewing and designing patterns, I spent my "free time" in medical offices. But that's all over!

Felix is perfect. He was born by c-section, but recovery has been a breeze — I even made it to my first dance class last night! Big brother Arthur adores Felix, my husband is loving paternity leave, and we've all settled into a lovely rhythm.

This also means I'm back in my studio, and Sew Busty is back in action!

We're picking back up with:

Geneva Sneak Peek ...

The Geneva has gotten a little facelift since the last time you saw her. Originally imagined as a basic shell top with a pleated neckline and optional cap sleeves, her pleats have become neckline darts, she now features an optional Peter Pan collar, and also has a crop version. (The optional cap sleeves are here to stay, of course!)

While I loved the idea of the neckline pleats in theory, once I sampled the pattern in real fabric, I didn't love how the pleats laid on my bust, no matter how I tweaked them. In desperation, I changed the pleats to darts on one sample, and voilà! The sleek look I was going for!

This pattern is so versatile, as my photos show! On one hand, you've got a contemporary crop-length top that pairs gorgeously with coordinating high waisted trousers (in this case, the Porcelynne Nichole pants — affiliate link). On the other, an office-ready top with a Peter Pan collar and piping details.

I've continued to make tweaks so this can be your perfect basic top — changed the darts, edited the neckline, played with the hem for the perfect length. And now she's almost ready to test! Email subscribers will get the first opportunity to join as paid pattern testers, so keep your eyes open for that call!

As usual, this pattern will come in Sew Busty's signature sizing — upper bust/chest measurements 26-56" (66-142.2 cm) and garment cup sizes D-L (4-12″ (10.2-30.5cm) difference between upper and full bust/projected chest).
