Make something that finally fits — in person, in Philly!

Hey Reader,

I get a lot of messages from folks saying, "I've always wanted to try making a bra, but I'm just so nervous!" And I get it. While other garments fit over the body, bras are meant to hold it up. That's a feat of engineering that can feel like a lot!

If you're in this camp, I have a solution for you: Join me in Philadelphia in May for a weekend bra + panty workshop.

At this workshop, you'll not only learn to make and fit a bra, you'll also walk away with a bespoke pattern — adjusted specifically for your body.

I've always said that the best way to learn to make a bra is to start with a structured bralette/wireless bra. That's why we'll be making the Jet Set Bra (natural or bullet, your choice, with a stretch back). A bit more support than a lounge bra, but simpler than an encapsulation or wired bra, the skills you'll learn making the Jet Set will perfectly translate into more complex patterns.

Let's get personal: Why I can no longer support the Bra Bee

I've been part of the International Bra Sewing Bee (formerly Great Bra Sewing Bee) since it began in 2020, drawn in by its promise of community and creativity. But after several years of troubling experiences — from values misalignment to compensation issues — I’ve decided I can no longer support the Bee in good faith.

Recent public allegations about unpaid instructor commissions confirmed what I’ve increasingly felt: The Bee is built on the underpaid and unpaid labor of others. Combined with my own experiences of the Bee team openly expressing hostility toward social justice and trans inclusion, these revelations have made clear that my values do not align with those of the Bee.

This decision hasn’t been easy, but it’s necessary. You can read my full statement on the blog:

Hey Reader, Baby Felix made his debut 7 weeks ago after a long, difficult pregnancy. Just like with my first son (but, actually, worse this time), I spent 9 months struggling to keep down food and water due to hyperemesis gravidarum. Instead of sewing and designing patterns, I spent my "free time" in medical offices. But that's all over! Felix is perfect. He was born by c-section, but recovery has been a breeze — I even made it to my first dance class last night! Big brother Arthur adores...
